Mardee H. Kidd owner Oct. 18, 1926 - November 9, 2005
Mr. Mardee H. Kidd of Lodi passed away unexpectedly Wednesday November 9,
2005 during a vacation trip to Mexico at the age of 79. Mr. Kidd was born
October 18, 1926 in Ashton, Idaho to Hobson and Elgy Kidd. In 1952 Mr. Kidd
founded and managed the Mar-Val Food Stores Inc. throughout the San Joaquin
Valley as well as the Central Sierra Foothills before retiring in 1986. He also
established Mar-Val Horse Stables in 1975.
Mr.
Kidd was Past President of Incentive Promotions Inc of Lodi,
Northern California Grocers Association (NCGA), and Past Chairman of the
California Grocers Association (CGA). Mr. Kidd served as a Merchant Marine
during WWII. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Satins
Lodi 3rd Ward, and a member of Woodbridge Golf and Country Club. He was an avid
hunter and fisherman and enjoyed golfing, traveling and mostly spending quality
time with his friends and family. He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Alice Kidd of Lodi; 2 sons, Mark
and Steve of Lodi; 1 daughter, Sandra of Salt Lake City, Utah; 1 brother, Val
Kidd of Sand Point, Utah; 1 sister, Marcella Poulton of Salt Lake City, Utah; 12
grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
A Church Service will be held Friday November 18, 2005, 1:00 pm at the Church of
Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Lodi 3rd Ward, followed by interment at the
Cherokee Cemetery in Lodi. Visitation will be held Thursday
6:00 -8:00 pm at the Lodi Funeral Home.
