Mar Val Stables News 2001

Dec 26th Prince and  newly arrived J.R ( a sweet older Arab) moved out to the back pasture where they could get up to  more mischief  or so they thought! Yes they met Rocky and Killian. 

Dec 15th Our old woolly friend ,Fling, left with a wonderful family their children were very happy

Dec 8th    over 38 people attended the Christmas party

Nove 17th  Merlin and J.R. left for the foothills near Somerset.         Merlin arrived at Mar Val some five years ago as a lay-up. He recovered well from an injury that almost finished his years as a riding horse. J.R went along to keep Merlin company.

Nove 12th The pigeon fever here has only affected two horses the second being a two year old filly. As we have generally older horses here we do not anticipate any more cases. The vets have notice more cases of pigeon fever this year throughout the central valley.

Nove 11th Jocelyn arrived with her horse Konk, a TB mare

Nove 10th Finally some rain hit. Not much wind but a good chance for the horses to get a good bath, Most of them stay out in the rain. then waited for the rain to stop just to have a great roll in the wet dirt. There were many horse's with a smile on their face, the same could not be said about the owners

Nove 1st Jayne left for the winter in Clements with both Doby and Etask

October 13th With Unique sold just over a week ago,  Brie Sarvis trailered in her young grey gelding Feugo. Some of you might remember  him as a weanling called Dollar, who I  had bought for a dollar just to get him out of a very, very dirty barn, several years ago.

October 7th  Jennifer Aquirre with some help from her trainer Monica Hicks brought in a paint gelding called Blaze

October 6th Simon and Nannette's daughter, Jenny, was married to a young man from England, Mr. Tim Wilkins. 

September 26th A new horse, Lexi, arrived much to the delight of Stacy

September 24th The evening was lit up by a wonderful lighting show as a thunder storm slowly moved in from the coast. The rain was enough to wash off the summer dust.

September 10th A dear old friend of ours past away today. His name was Roany. A quarter horse gelding who lived well into his mid to late thirties and was full of life to the last. He will be missed, especially by Patti Reich

September 7th Tarzan left for the training barn near by, we somehow believe that one day he will sneak out of that training barn and return to a life of ease here at Mar Val

August 28th Sly and April left for the country life in Clements

August 13th  Giea, Betty Baltzer's mare, finally left for her new home in Idaho after spending seven years at Mar Val.                

A new arrival, Trevor, a gelding on trial for Stacy Redmond. If he behaves himself then he will get to stay.....he did not.                          

August 4th The full moon lit our way on a late night ride amongst the vines, even the stable manager was there on a horse named Tarzan!

July 22nd Prince Louie arrived, a young gray Arab gelding. Leaving was Buddy on the same train that brought in Prince Louie

July 21st Natural left for his new home after spending nearly six years here at Mar Val.  The monthly barn barbeque was well attended

July 16th Steve Ehlers arrived with his horse, Jesse

July 12th  Ramon left for a vacation for a week

July 10th We happy to say that Debbie has decided to not sell her mare Nicki, so anyone that was looking...forget it!

July 9th Megan with her gelding Stitches moved in

July 6th Gail with her mare Princess moved in

July 4th We had a little rain today, its was great especially after the recent humid weather.

June 30th  Najji left 

June 25th  Record rain fall fell on the stables this evening making for many near misses in the pastures as the horses felt refreshed with this cool damp weather, one client pulled out her winter blanket, but her horse had other ideas and ran off with its fly sheet on.

June 11th  Velda took a tumble this evening, as a precaution the emergency technicians took her to hospital  but was later released with a good bump on her head. Velda's commented later, "Never did I think that I needed to wear a helmet"

June 1st We welcome back Jayne Graffigna and Mia Gomez.  Jayne brings Etask and Dobie and Mia has New York Citi

June 1st Also new to the barn in the last few weeks are, Susan with young Rio, Debbie with Nicki and Wendy with Jaz

May 31st Julie and Taz just left us, Julie is going back to school so moved her mare to her friends as college is not cheap. We wish Julie the best and told her not to be a stranger

 May 26th Betty  and Michele  are both in the middle of relocating, one out of state and the other out of town, we will miss them both.
