Amy Shafer is a certified riding instructor with a degree in Equestrian Sciences from Southern Virginia College, formerly Southern Seminary College, where she competed for the NCAA Cartier Cup alongside Beezie Madden to win the Team National Championship. After six years galloping horses at Belmont Park in New York and training young racing stock, she earned her Bachelor’s in Education and Teaching Credential at California State University. While teaching in public schools, Amy continued to compete in hunter/jumper and combined training events, managing her own training barn, Silver Leaf Stables, bringing young riders to compete at local events and participating as a judge at county level shows. Amy also has experience training young Western riders having trained and competed in both disciplines, and has completed training for PATH certification. She has worked with young and adult riders at the local, USEF, and recreational levels for over 30 years and brings this experience along with professional teaching and training methods to Mar Val Stables offering lessons and training for you and your horse, as well as lessons using experienced lesson horses on site
